I wanted to make this post for a while and I have been doing quite a bit of experimentation and research to give you guys a good answer to the question what is the best home defense weapon or tool . Or whatever you would like to call it.. the answer is simple its whatever you train with and are the most comfortable with given you have the ability to choose… in some situations you might have no other choice but to use the firearm you have on your person, which in that case if it was your everyday carry sidearm in which you are probably very comfortable in using it to defend yourself… a few keys things I want to point out is always carry at home always every bad encounter I know of….happens when people let their guard down and where do we normally do that.. at home right!.. anyway with that being said if I had the choice to pick my firearm in the middle of a home invasion I would use my rifle because I train more with my rifle and I am more confident and comfortable with my abilities with my rifle… and the reason I came to this conclusion is simple its how our bodies reacts to stress.. in a home invasion scenario you are going to be going through a range of emotions which can hinder your ability to think clearly and basic normal functions start becoming much harder to performs much less having to accurately stop a threat.. the more comfortable you are and the more training you have behind a weapon the more confident you will be in your abilities in general which will help you make sound judgements and to accurately stop a threat … and always be aware of what is behind what you are shooting that’s actually apart of any kind of training you do…
We all know people like this lol
21 foot rule this is a great practical exercise which will enhance your reaction time and your ability to shoot under stress.. for those of you who do not know what the 21 foot rule is, it is basically supposed to be the safe distance you can effectively take down a target who is charging at you with a knife or some sort of object.. again this just like everything else depends on your situational awareness your level of training and your ability to think quick and under pressure.
Just so everyone knows I teach Krav Maga which is a form of martial arts, it is basically hand to hand combat and self defense. I was wondering if anyone would be interested if I posted helpful tips for any self defense type situation? If so like or rebolog and let me know what you want to see.
By all means do so
One of the biggest differences in Mma and krav maga is the mind set. One is just to beat up the other guy and win a title. the other is I am going to win this fight because I have to my life is on the the line. Don’t get me wrong MMA is a good self defense technique when it comes to other MMA fighters and people who practice MMA have a distinct advantage against Joe Snuffy that knows nothing about unarmed combat. Now let’s give Joe Snuffy a knife or a long blade or even a steal pipe or a gun. That’s something I believe MMA fighters not only do not train for but are not mentally prepared for. With krav maga you train to deal with these type of scenarios which are much more likely to happen and when I say krav maga I mean the Israeli army krav maga. Where. You don’t train in a ring but in a multitude of environments to mimic possible conditions you might face in the real world. Again this just my opinion based on what I have seen and experience and research as well
Teaching one of my friends the fundamentals or rifle shooting
That’s a really jerky pull.
Fundamentals come over time buddy not within ten minutes of shooting especially in 12 degree weather
True. Gloves would help.
Yeah that was kinda my fault didn’t tell him to bring gloves but that’s kinda common sense to me on 12 degree weather lol
