Just so everyone knows I teach Krav Maga which is a form of martial arts, it is basically hand to hand combat and self defense. I was wondering if anyone would be interested if I posted helpful tips for any self defense type situation? If so like or rebolog and let me know what you want to see.
By all means do so
One of the biggest differences in Mma and krav maga is the mind set. One is just to beat up the other guy and win a title. the other is I am going to win this fight because I have to my life is on the the line. Don’t get me wrong MMA is a good self defense technique when it comes to other MMA fighters and people who practice MMA have a distinct advantage against Joe Snuffy that knows nothing about unarmed combat. Now let’s give Joe Snuffy a knife or a long blade or even a steal pipe or a gun. That’s something I believe MMA fighters not only do not train for but are not mentally prepared for. With krav maga you train to deal with these type of scenarios which are much more likely to happen and when I say krav maga I mean the Israeli army krav maga. Where. You don’t train in a ring but in a multitude of environments to mimic possible conditions you might face in the real world. Again this just my opinion based on what I have seen and experience and research as well
Teaching one of my friends the fundamentals or rifle shooting
That’s a really jerky pull.
Fundamentals come over time buddy not within ten minutes of shooting especially in 12 degree weather
True. Gloves would help.
Yeah that was kinda my fault didn’t tell him to bring gloves but that’s kinda common sense to me on 12 degree weather lol
Getting distance with a rifle if you think things are hard and can’t get harder you are wrong situational awareness is key here so you are not fumbling around banging your rifle on objects and furniture wasting time and letting your attacker get an edge on you. A lot of people will teach go for soft spots and I completely agree and remember your rifle can be used as a weapon regardless how close you are to your threat or even if you are black on ammo. Aim for soft spots using either your barrel or buttstock aim for things like eyes, noise, jaw, Adams apple, windpipe, solar plexus. Basically weak points in the body that will either cause massive amounts of pain or disable your target permanently or just enough time to get out of arms reach. And then their its up to you to decide how you are going to stop the threat if you have a side arm you can draw it or you can use your rifle. A good tip for this would be move off to either e left or right side of your attacker just in case if they charge in a blind rage. In order for them to get you they are going to have to change their direction and momentum giving you time extra time to act. Another tip if you have a powerful weapon mounted light you can use that to disorient your attacker and mess up his vision.
Getting some distance… this is a very controversial subject I have done a lot of research and practice these techniques myself never let anyone tell you the one certain technique is better then another it all depends on your situation tactics are dictated by whatever scenario you are in and you have to learn to adapt and overcome in order to survive… the scenario would be to create space from an attacker in a closed environment such as a room or halway … top left photo shows a technique that is widely known drawing from retention with your attacker in your face some people prefer to hit an attacker with a palm strick and others prefer to shield their face while they draw a weapon from their holster.first step is placing the mag weld against your body and titling your wrist outwards so when you fire from retention your slide doesn’t get caught up on your clothing. And your muzzle should be tilted downwards as if to shoot your attackers belly button.. I have seen this technique taught and some people won’t tilt their firearm downwards while they palm strike the face. If your new to this technique I would suggest you practice doing a few dry fires then try without using a palm strike… this is a crawl, walk and run technique just like everything else but this could end bad if you are not careful. Then from their create that distance continue to engage your target until the threat has ended. Keep note as you are backing up don’t fully extend your arms until either you are out of arms reach or the threat has been stopped again your tactics are dictated by the situation.. the is just one way to do it and I have many more stay tuned…
